Benefits of Associate BAPW Membership
Associate Membership of the BAPW is available to any company or organisation related to or having an interest in the pharmaceutical supply chain (Full Membership is reserved for firms engaged principally in the wholesale distribution of pharmaceutical products)
Associate Membership of the BAPW gives a company access to a leading forum of debate and discussion on the development of public policy and industry best practice. The BAPW, through its Associate Members Council (AMC) operates as a forum for sharing best practice and policy amongst companies with an interest in pharmaceutical distribution (eg manufacturers). Associate Membership entitles the Member to vote in the annual elections to the BAPW AMC, and the right to nominate a candidate or indeed to stand for election themselves.
The BAPW also aims to bring together Associate Members and the pharmaceutical distributors in whose business they have an interest. Shared understanding between these groups can further the business interests of all concerned.
Associate Membership ensure the organisation will be able to attend the range of events organised through the year by the BAPW. Currently these include an annual conference and two business days. These events comprise of talks and panel discussions by some of the most interesting figures shaping the future development of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. Speakers at our last annual conference included Duncan Eaton, Chief Executive of PASA, Rodney Elgie, European Patients’ Forum, Nimo Ahmed, Head of Intelligence at the MHRA, James Copping, EU Commission, Martin Anderson of the ABPI and Sue Sharpe, PSNC. These events also present an unparalleled opportunity for networking within the pharmaceutical industry, with attendees drawn from wholesalers, manufacturers and trade media representatives. We also shape these events to make them enjoyable for our Members – for example this years annual Conference included a golf day and a gala dinner with horse-race theme and mock races.
Associate Membership entitles a company to unlimited attendees at these events. Membership fees cover the cost of the twice yearly Business Days, excluding any accommodation requirements (the Annual Conference is charged at a competitive delegate rate).
The BAPW also organises a series of working parties involving both full Members and Associate Members which lead discussion on areas of interest to the industry. Recent working parties include issues such as e-commerce and hospital tendering. The process of these discussions helps inform the members better about the issues at stake. where appropriate these groups develop best practice standards for the industry and produce papers outlining these.
